Mac OS X Password Manager - Form filler- 1Password

Posted by admin  Published in 1Password Mac

Have a lot of web passwords? Most of us do. Whether its for something as simple for your email, or as important as your bank account, you’re sure to eventually forget some of them — unless you actually keep track of them. 1Passwd is one of the best software choices for keeping track of those passwords in an easy and secure manner. And since it supports all major Mac web browsers, none shall be left behind in order to enjoy it to its max.

Design. 1Passwd lives within your browser (shown above within Safari), as well as a stand-alone app (shown below). The app itself is for efficiently managing all the passwords and identities, as in the browser is to save new ones and implementing them in the websites. Overall, very well-built — mostly because it’s not a chore to store/implement the info. Quite the contrary, it’s the easiest thing ever.

Functionality. With the social web revolution, one has yet to find a solution to all the countless passwords we’re generating for each website — but until that day comes, 1Passwd is the best way to deal with them so far. What the app does is generate a master password for automatically storing the rest, then calling them into action when needed. And since 1Passwd has such a good reputation in regard to security, it’s even able to store more sensitive info — such as credit card numbers. Then, recalling the stored passwords and identities is as easy as clicking on the desired one for the website currently visiting — you just may be required to input the master password in order to get 1Passwd to comply. The app’s also very efficient in auto-filling web forms and assigning them secure passwords, which are instantly stored in the database. And as a bonus, you can even safeguard important notes within 1Passwd.You can view a video demoing the app right here.

Limitations. Nothing, really. 1Passwd is the best password management solution tried so far. Although recently, the Palm sync aspect of 1Passwd is now being offered as a separate buy. So if you want Palm support for storing your passwords, that’ll be an extra $12.95 in addition to the app’s $29.95 — which some may consider already hanging on the expensive side.Final thoughts.1Passwd truly is one of a kind. It’s such a positive experience for the web user to never have to remember but one password again, that you shall not have to think twice about the app. You can download a demo to try it out, but it’s almost guaranteed you’ll be pleased. The only frown-upon is left for the Palm users out there, who must invest extra in order to sync up.A free trial is available as well as a 30 day Money Back Guarentee.Download 1PasswordWhy Do You Even Need 1Password Mac Software to Store Passwords on Apple Mac OSX?

As a web designer and developer, I know it just isn’t safe to use only one password for every site that you need to login to. What if only one of those sites becomes hacked and your password is used to compromise other websites that you might visit. Would you want to take that risk? I don’t and I’ve seen the backend of many web sites built by beginning programmers that do not store user passwords securely. 1Password ensures that you easily generate a new password for each site where you need a login.
I currently store almost 250 different passwords using 1Password software. That is 250 websites that I have memberships to and some of those I don’t visit that often so remembering the passwords can be pretty tough especially if I haven’t been there for some time. The best part is that each one of those sites I visit has a strong unique password and I don’t need to remember any of them. To be effective in generating and using great password requires that you use the best apple password program.

Why You Can’t Just Use the Firefox Browser to Remember Your Passwords
Browsers like Firefox & Internet Explorer are great for browsing but not for storing your passwords

Firefox and other browsers like it are great for browsing the web and they even remember your passwords for you.

WAIT…

The simple fact is the password features aren’t safe enough in browsers. Browsers are great for browsing, that’s what they are designed for. Below is a quick Google search for Firefox password security issues, you will find a number of vulnerabilities that potentially leave your passwords open to being used maliciously by an attacker. This is not just a Firefox problem but browsers in general.

Don’t be fooled… you really need to consider getting the best password manager software.

How to Automatically Fill in Online Forms

Posted by admin  Published in Roboform Tutorials

Tired of manually entering your name, address and other details into web forms? There is a better way - with a professional automatic form filler, you can easily fill forms by only one click or by zero click, just let it fill automatically.

Some browers like firefox have built-in form filling functions. But they are all too weak and not easy to use.
All the browsers have “Remember password” function. We do not recommend to use the “Remember password” functions of your browser for it is not security. See why here. http://www.roboform-fans.com/it-is-dangerous-to-use-remember-me-of-your-ie-or-firefox.html

Steps

  1. If you want to remember more than your name and password, unfortunately Firefox and Internet Explorer or other browersers do not currently have any decent form management options so you will need to download a third-party tool. The good news is that Ai Roboform works very well, has a number of other excellent features, and is free and ridiculously easy to install. All you have to do is click the link below and then click “Download Roboform”.
  2. Then install it.Once it’s installed, a new set of tools appears in your Internet Explorer and Firefox toolbars.
  3. Click Setup Form Filling on the RoboForm toolbar to setup your Identity. This information can later be used to fill forms with one click.
  4. You will be prompted for your name and country to appropriately set up your Identity.
  5. Go through the various tabs and enter your information in the appropriate fields.
    • RoboForm will warn you when you are filling in sensitive information such as credit card and bank numbers.
  6. Click on Save & Close button. Your identity set-up is complete!!!
  7. Go to any online registration or check-out form and Click on <Your Identity Name> on the RoboForm toolbar. RoboForm will fill the forms automatically.

Tips

  • If you need to robo-fill a field that is not listed in the Identity Editor then you can define your own Custom Field. Most of Custom Field’s functionality is only available in RoboForm Pro. In the free version number of custom fields is limited to 3.

  • Full Roboform features
    • Memorizes your passwords and Logs You In automatically.
    • Fills long registration and checkout forms with one click.
    • Encrypts your passwords to achieve complete security.
    • Generates random passwords that hackers cannot guess.
    • Fights Phishing by filling passwords only on matching web sites.
    • Defeats Keyloggers by not using keyboard to type passwords.
    • Backs up your passwords, Copies them between computers.
    • Synchronizes passwords between computers using GoodSync.
    • Searches for keywords in your passwords, notes and Internet.
    • Portable: RoboForm2Go runs from USB key, no install needed.
    • PDA-friendly: sync your passwords to Pocket PC and Palm.
    • Neutral: works with Internet Explorer, AOL/MSN, Firefox.

What should you do when you forgot password of a web site?

Posted by admin  Published in Roboform Tips & Tricks

Many friends asked me the question: “What can I do if I forgot my password of MySpace”
Someone forgot MySpace password, someone forgot yahoo password, and someone forgot some other web site’s password.

I’m very sorry for them because they didn’t use Ai Roboform password management tool.
If they use Roboform, they won’t lose their passwords!

But now if I already forgot the password. What should I do? Below are step by step solutions:

1. In the login page of the web site, find the “forgot password” or ” Retrieve password” link, when you found it, click the link and go into the page and fill the register information like email, birth day, secure questions and retrieve your password.
“Forgot password” Links:
MySpace: “Retrieve password”
Yahoo:  “Retrieve password”

2. If you forgot the information when you registered, then you can’t retrieve your password by the above way.
Then click the below link to contact the service provider.
MySpace: http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=misc.contact  Select “Your account” - “Forgot Password” or “Forgot username”
Yahoo: Contact yahoo for help

3. If you can’t get your password by above two ways. Then I have to say sorry, you may register a new account of MySpace or yahoo.
MySpace sign up
Yahoo sign up

4. To avoid this kind of problems, you are recommended to use Roboform to manage your passwords. It is not a joking. This is a must-have browser add-in.

Roboform Password Protect All Your passwords - More safe master password

Posted by admin  Published in Roboform Tips & Tricks

Password-Protect All Your passwords -

More safe master password

When RoboForm is installed for the first time you will be asked to create a Master Password. The Master Password is important when protecting your Passcards, Identities or Safenotes. If others have access to your computer we recommend encrypting your data by setting up a Master Password to safeguard all of your important information.*We describe password protection as applied to Passcards for brevity. All commands and displays are the same for Identities and Safenotes.

Master Password Setup

If you did not set-up your Master Password during the installation, you can set one up any time.    In the RoboForm toolbar select
RoboForm -> Options -> Security.    Click Set Master Password and create your Master Password.

*It is important that you remember your Master Password in order to access your Passcards, Identities, and Safenotes in the future.

Enable “Password Protection for New Files” to safeguard all of your Passcards, Identities and Safenotes.

It is dangerous to use “remember me” of your IE or FireFox

Posted by admin  Published in Roboform Tips & Tricks

There are tools to recover most of your ‘remembered’ passwords. You can use them if you forgot your ‘remembered’ passwords, and so can anyone with access to your machine. Aren’t they dangerous?

“I’ve forgotten my password [of a web site, mail account, instant messaging tool, etc.]. However, I can log in because I have ‘remember my password’ configured, so the computer just logs me in automatically since it saved password. Is there a way I can see what that password is?”

Yes of course you can.

It’s an important lesson about just how dangerous it is to use ‘remember me’.

Why? Because if you can recover it, then anyone who has access to the machine can probably recover it too.

‘Remember my password’ doesn’t seem like such a good idea anymore, now does it?
When you choose ‘Remember my password’, or any equivalent

Your passwords are saved somewhere in your computer.

Firefox

If you use Firefox as your web browser, do this:

Click on the Tools menu

Click on the Options menu item

Click on the Passwords tab

Click on the View Saved Passwords button

In the resulting dialog, click on the Show Passwords button

For other programs, you need to download a few simple utilities. Specifically, NirSoft has available several Password Recovery Tools. Included are tools that will display the saved passwords for a host of different programs and situations.

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/mspass.html

I want to make sure you remember 3 important things:

1) ‘Remember my password’ is a convenience, and a security risk. Use it with caution.

2) If your machine is not physically secure it is not secure. If someone can walk up to it, insert a disk and reboot it, they can take total control. And that includes recovering your passwords with tools as we’ve seen here.

3) Use a password manager tool, the best one is Roboform, which can memorize and protect your passwords.

Download it here http://www.roboform-fans.com/download-roboform

RoboForm – Sometimes it’s hard to remember all of your passwords for all of the accounts you have online.  This is where RoboForm comes in.  I’m glad that I found this excellent tool to help me and I love it so much!

Roboform will save your password information from logins and automatically log you in to the password protected sites that you visit. It also makes the process of filling out forms easier by using identity presets.
